About this image

This class II3m open cluster in Cepheus was originally discovered by William Herschel in October 1787, and was later designated as NGC7234. However, there was a transcription error in the original co-ordinates, and following John Herschel's 'rediscovery' of the cluster it was designated as NGC7235. Apparent mag 7.7. Distance c.9-9,500ly.

Bortle 7/8, Moon full 100%, 15 days old.
