About this image

After 4 hours lost to a seriously wet mirror and work commitments I managed to get outside to try to get a halfway deep look at M78 and McNeil's nebula. Have been trying to do it for ages but the Moon was up or the focus drifted or, whatever.... So, was pleased to manage to collect some frames after the Moon sank.

Theres a lot more low level detail than in the image I took near full Moon - no surprise Mr Detective -  and, pleasingly what looks like a faint detection of something near the right location. But with that many exposures we are looking at 19th-20th mag. Will plate solve it soon and see if one of them corresponds with V1647 Ori, part of McNeil's nebula or is just a background star.
