About this image

This image shows part of the Pereus galaxy cluster, centred on NGC 1275, a peculiar galaxy of apparent mag. 12. The image includes sixteen identifiable DSOs, mostly galaxies most of which are ellipticals. The exceptions are NGC1267, a pair of stars, and IC1905, a small triple star. I have only labelled the two most prominent objects, NGC1272 being a mag. 12 elliptical galaxy.

This is a richly populated area clearly worthy of further attention. Great for galaxy-hunters!

Bortle 7/8, light cloud.
