About this image

This unusual ring galaxy in Pegasus was discovered by William Herschel in October 1784.

The image shows a large bright circular core surrounded by a fainter disk which shows no sign of the ring structure.

Distance c.72million ly. Diameter c.3,000ly. Apparent mag. 11.5.

Bortle 7/8, cold (-5˚C).
