Sunset over Janssen

About this image

I have waited a long time for the right combination of lighting and decent seeing to catch the last traces of sunset over the ancient giant crater Janssen. The last section of the crater floor to catch the setting sun is the large block of raised clumpy material that occupies Janssen's floor just south of the intruding crater Fabricius, largely in shadow in this image. Part of the Rima Janssen can be seen still catching the light as it crosses this block.
