About this image

One of Messier's 'lost' objects, but discovered by him in February 1771. This image, obtained using the COAST in Tenerife, was photo-bombed by a passing satellite.

Distance c.2,500ly. Apparent mag. 5.8. Diameter c.126ly. Age c.450million years.
