About this image

This attractive little class I2p open cluster in Orion was discovered by William Herschel in January 1784.

Fans of Star Trek apparently see the cluster as depicting a Klingon Battle Cruiser (not to be confused with an unidentified weather balloon/object).

Distance c.1,425ly. Apparent mag. 6.4.
