About this image
One of the disadvantages of observing from inside is that you don't get to see what is going on in the sky. I've been imaging comets all night but at 2057 I got an email from Denis Buczynski telling me that there was an aurora on his monitoring camera at Tarbatness. I had a look at the live stream and it was pretty spectacular but I didn't think any more about it. It was only when I saw Paul Whitmarsh's image from Sussex here that I thought that I would have a look at my telescope monitoring camera video. This is a 5s stack from that video when the aurora was at its brightest. I do wish that I had gone outside now!

Here is a 2 minute clip from UK004D, my B&W NW facing meteor camera. This is real time and shows just how dynamic the aurora can be. This is a timelapse from the colour monitoring camera for the one hour period from 2100 - 2200.
