I received an aurora alert text message from Len Entwisle and the e-mail alert from Sandra Brantingham. I think I saw a hint of a bright ray at around 23:30 but my once good view to my north is now blighted by intensely bright street lighting and blazing lights from small businesses. (I will post a photo to illustrate how bad it is). I then took some images from my back garden (house acting as a light shield), but no aurora.

The attached 10s composite image (contrast stretched) is from one of my north-facing meteor cameras (in mono mode) - see Nick James' image and the video from the camera hosted by Denis Buczynski. My conditions were better at this time in the early hours and a brief video is here:
