About this image

NGC3504 (right) is an interesting barred spiral galaxy that may be a ring galaxy. The COAST image shows faint evidence of the ring. Distance c.70million ly. Diameter c.55,000ly. Apparent mag. 12.2.

NGC3512 is a spiral galaxy. Distance c.60million ly. Diameter c.25,000ly. Apparent mag. 12.3.

Both galaxies were discovered by William Herschel on the night of 1785 April 11.
