Title

M90 and irregular IC3583

About this image

Both galaxies in the Virgo Cluster are fascinating. In this cropped image, M90 with its smooth and featureless spiral arm, travelling towards the Milky Way rather than away from it.

Above it is IC 3583 which is an irregular galaxy. It was thought to be a satellite for M90 till it was found to be much closer to us. You can also see a few edge-on galaxies close to M90.
