About this image
The curse of Saturn indeed! Three times recently the forecast locally has been clear all night and I have stayed up to the early hours in the hope of a decent image of Saturn. The first night cloud rolled in just after Saturn had cleared local obstructions and about five seconds after I had it in focus. The second night Saturn lasted about 20 minutes before cloud rolled in again but this time it was really poor seeing. The third night (8th June!) Saturn looked really steady although seen through an orange haze but as soon as I had it in focus and started to image it began to fade. I managed precisely three minutes of video before Saturn disappeared into another bank of cloud that didn't exist according to the forecast.
So this image is the best 30% of that three minutes imaging. I hadn't even got as far as increasing the magnification to the optimum size when It had already gone. Exhausting and I have little to show for it - that is the curse of Saturn!
