About this image

Following on from the previous animation showing the changes during  the first week ,This animation covers the period 2023-05-27 to 2023-06-13 and shows the transition from an almost featureless spectrum following  the decay of the flash ionisation phase to one showing broad P Cygni Balmer lines typical of type II supernovae.

Generated using ISIS software from 5 observations interpolated at 0.2 day intervals and animated at 10fps

The original spectra are available from the BAA spectroscopy database
