About this image

The story behind this one: David Eicher (@deicherstar) is Editor-in-Chief of Astronomy magazine. About a couple of years ago he asked his Twitter followers for a picture of his eponymous asteroid. I was never in Tacande with a working observatory when the asteroid was above the horizon at night --- until a couple of days ago.

This is the result and it is the only image he has yet seen of (3617) Eicher.

By the way, the faint "trail" at the top is actually an edge-on spiral galaxy LEDA 1167361. The galaxy is mag 17.6 and the asteroid was 16.3 at the time.
