Title

Venus surface detection 15th September

About this image

This is my best videos trying a different night side filter from the usual Semrock/Thorlabs FELH combination.  The new filter (1010/38 nm) covers a wider area of the dark side surface signal but also runs the risk of picking up stray light from the day side between 993 and 1000 nm.

It allowed me to run my system at shorter exposures and this was beneficial in the signal to noise results.  The end result is the best I have managed ever!
