About this image

The Orionids are caused by incoming debris from our old friend comet 1P/Halley. Orionid activity was expected to peak on October 21/22 with a ZHR of about 20. Rates should also be good on the nights around maximum.

The attached example shows a view of Orion through variable cloud cover and a mag +0.3 Orionid streaking down past Betelgeuse.
