About this image

I caught the bright aurora borealis and the STEVE phenomenon from North Yorkshire, UK on 5 November 2023. The display was one of the brightest seen from the UK in recent times and I was lucky to have some gaps in the clouds to be able to see it. The STEVE phenomenon was amazing to witness. At its brightest it was visible from the north west to the south east, arcing almost overhead and easily seen with the naked eye.
