M74 in Pisces

About this image

M74 is in Pisces at about 32 million light years away. It is almost as large as the Milky Way at around 95,000 light years across. Sometimes know as the Phantom galaxy it has low surface brightness and the outer reaches of the arms are dificult to preserve in processing.

Weather conditions have been trying in the last few months and a lot of subs were cloud affected. It has taken 6 nights  from 9 November to 13 December to gather the data.
