Title

Occultation of chi Aqr

About this image

Chi Aqr hanging on the limb seconds before it was occulted.  I used a tripod and allowed the Moon to drift through.  It was a red star magnitude 4.9 (See HBAA p38).  The inset image is the light curve from Tangra software which displays the relative brightness in each frame vs UT.    Time calibration is taken from the text overlay on each frame recorded to 1ms accuracy.  (That bit of the image is chopped off !).

Lunar occultations are a useful test for ones timing equipment.  Any problems show up in the O-C given in the reduction with Occult4 software.

The circled object is an art. sat. moving through the field.
