Title

Total eclipse from Torreon, Mexico

About this image

It seems that the area around Torreon in Mexico never has clouds in the sky except on the odd occasion when an eclipse passes by. The mid-level cloud broke in time but we were left with a lot of cirrus which meant that hardly any corona was visible. There were some spectacular prominences though. This image is a stack of 50 frames (at 50fps) at third contact. The cirrus did mean that we had an amazing view of the shadow and stunning colours around the horizon.
