About this image

C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is still only around magnitude 12.1 but already it is looking promising as it is still 3au from the Sun and 2au from Earth.  There are the first hints of a tail devloping too in these images.

If anyone knows what the mystery object is lower left please let me know.

Peter

From a look on SkySafari, it may be 2378 Pannekoek. Approximately the right apparent separation from the comet and the right apparent motion across the field. If you plate solve the image and plug the celestial coordinates in the following tool, then you may confirm / not. Wasn't sure whether your obs time was UT or BST. Small-Body Identification Tool (nasa.gov)

Thanks David - my times are UTC.  I'll have a look.
