About this image

Three days after the total solar eclipse I was staying in the lovely city of Merida, on the north coast of the Yucatan in Mexico. From there the ecliptic is almost vertical at sunset so I had a go at taking some pictures of the Moon and Jupiter in the evening sky from the hotel roof. There was some low level cloud and a lot of light pollution but this is the result of stacking 25 x 1s exposures and then removing the background gradient using a median filter. It shows the 3.6 day old crescent Moon, Jupiter, Uranus and Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks just above the cloud at the bottom. At some point, when I have a bit more time, I'll have a go at processing this in colour now that I know that it is worth the effort.
