About this image

This is the brightest comet around at the moment. 13P/Olbers comes to perihelion on June 30 and it is currently a mag 8 object in Auriga, low in the bright northern twilight from UK latitudes. The elongation is 26 deg at the moment but it is almost vertically above the Sun at our latitude. The sun was 12 deg down when this image was taken and the comet was 12 deg above the horizon. The sky in that direction had been clear but cloud low to the northwest drifted into the field of view.
