Title

Sicilian 'Cacciatore' Cluster

About this image

Discovered by the Italian astronomer Niccolò Cacciatore in 1826 from Palermo Observatory in Sicily. The cluster in Sicily reaches a max. 8° above southern horizon, obviously light-pollution wasn't an issue back then. Interestingly, Cacciatore was the only person who was able to name stars after himself !

The cluster reaches Alt. 16° from my Morocco site. It cannot be observed from UK and most of Europe. Enjoy the view in Hi-Res HERE.
