Palomar 10 Globular Cluster in Sagitta

About this image

The elusive globular cluster Palomar 10 is the Deep Sky Section's September 'Object of Interest'. The cluster is embedded in a blizzard of stars, barely distinguishable from the background and no doubt a very challenging object to identify. Fortunately these difficulties were not insurmountable for the COAST in Tenerife.

Apparent magnitude 13.2. Distance c.19-20,000ly.
