Title

Getting ready for Venus night side imaging

About this image

This is the camera set-up with filters that I will be using through my 14inch SCT if the opportunity occurs after sunset to image the night side of Venus. As there is no sunlight or other light from solar system bodies to reflect off the night side of Venus it can only be detected from heat emissions.  Research shows these are best detected around the 1 micron mark between 1002 nm and 1030 nm when 96% of the signal is from the surface of Venus.  The combination of filters I am using gives me a bandwidth between 1000 nm and 1029 nm.
