About this image

This was the first time I had a chance to test out a new mono camera in action with the equipment correctly spaced. My previous attempt had been foiled by failing to give the reducer and sensor sufficient distance between them and since then the weather has not obliged.  The camera has the mono sensor equivalent of the colour IMX585 unsed to good effect with the Uranus-C at the previous UK Venus night side opportunity in September 2023.

I wasn't expecting any clear spells on this evening but the cloud thinned enough to see Venus and I had my chance.    Venus is still 45% lit so the necessary overexposure of the day side to get the night signal detected meant that it dominated most of the image.   Despite that there are some faint surface features showing that can be matched to the heat map projection of Venus in WinJUPOS.
