On the night of 2025 Feb 25 a mag 12 star in Auriga was predicted to occult the 6 km-diameter mag 19 main-belt asteroid (70979) 1999 XU24 for up to 2.4s 

Such a narrow shadow track usually results in a single chord being obtained, at best, but this event passed over the fixed stations of Philip Denyer, Simon Kidd and mine. We used a variety of cameras and GPS time insertion methods. We recorded occultation durations of PD (3.0s), SK (1.47s), ARP (2.95s).

The attached provisional plot (from Occult) shows an ellipse fitted to our 3 chords with axes of 7.7 km x 5.4 km.
