Markarian's Chain (except NGC 4458) with nearby bright Messier's

Title

Markarian's Chain w/ M87, M58 and other nearby NGC galaxies

About this image

A sketch at low magnification (x100), composited from several adjacent or overlapped fields of view sketched in the rough at the eyepiece on the 16th and 17th April 2025. Only the brightest field stars are plotted. This "contextual sketch" followed several nights of higher magnification observing (& sketching) in the same galaxy complex during March and April 2025. The plotting at the scope of the context of each galaxy and its visual relationship to its neighbour was the point (and the pleasure) of the exercise.

Cracking observation, Joe!

Thanks Jeremy. It was the observing and not the "sketch" that was the point here - quite fascinating to "galaxy hop" rather than "star hop" in this area and even more fascinating to appreciate the visual differences between galaxies seen in the same view.

You can see I finally took your advice and joined the BAA this week.
