About this image

The bright and lovely Globular Cluster Messier 5. This is a "next day copy" of scruffier thumbnail observations made at the scope. Messier 5 was a not insignificant "consolation observation" while the bright moon precluded fruitful observation of other fainter DSO on this date.

The spiralling arms are no doubt exaggerated but not dishonestly, they were eye-catching "streamers of stars" in the observation.

Great to see a sketch of M5, Joe. A much overlooked globular.
