This dwarf irregular galaxy in Canes Venatici was discovered by William Herschel in Apr 1788. Sometimes known as the Box Galaxy, at c.20,000 ly across it is substantially smaller than the Milky Way. This COAST image shows various structural elements of the galaxy.

Distance c.13million ly. Apparent mag. c.9.4.
