About this image

For me, this comet is the surprise of the year. After perihelion, active regions appear to have formed on the nucleus. I have created an insert to show the structure near the comet's head.

Measurements with Tycho Tracker showed a slight decrease in brightness to 10m.2, a coma diameter of 4' and a tail length of 1.1 degrees with PA 293.
