About this image

With all the excitement about the fragmentation of C/2025 K1 it is worth remembering that there is another comet that is well placed at the moment which also shows a fragment. The fragment 240P-B was first reported on 2025 October 3 on MPEC 2025-T124. At that time it was a 19th magnitude object trailing the main nucleus. Earlier observations back to June were then reported. It is now a reasonably bright (15th mag) object and it seems that it will probably survive, unlike some of the fragments of C/2025 K1.
