Well, despite the dire prognostications of the Met. Office and sundry other soothsayers the sky was actually clear this evening. Not only that, but the seeing was half decent as well.

In the December Jupiter Section News letter, John Rogers highlights a method developed by Con Kolivas in Australia for combining RGB and IR images in a way that preserves the colours of the RGB image while adding in the fine details from the IR. Essentially this is done by using the "wavelet decomposition" tool in GIMP.
