About this image

The middle image is the best IR data gathered on the night just as Jupiter disappeared into increasing amounts of hazy and misty clouds.  Despite the Jet Stream Jupiter was reasonably steady.  The two colour + IR  images de-rotated to the same time are variants on my own methodology to try to keep the original image colours when combining with IR.

Hi Peter-Regarding your comments on the Groups site; it was a nice surprise to hear from you. I have been off Venus for a while. For my location, Venus is best imaged  in the early morning and has not very well placed for a while. Higher altitudes seem to bring too much turbulence.  I had attempted Night Side imaging a few years ago and was surprised to make some [very poor] capture, but was not able to continue. The state of the art seems to have moved on considerably so I will be playing catch up, as well as revision!

I noticed elsewhere that you have changed instrument and mount. The high f ratio must be a great help and I understand that. In fact I am considering a Classic Cassegrain for much the same reason High UV transmission is bonus of course.  I though you were happy with the EQ mount though. I had also  built a mental image of your observatory being very close to a restrictive boundary, but that was not obvious in the picture you show on the Group site. I  hope you will allow me to contact you from time to time during my revision and preparation for the next Night-side image opportunity.                   I have lost your email address during a computer change, hence this unusual contact route

Regards..
