About this image

I was delighted to welcome a group of visiting students from Peterborough to King’s Academy Observatory in Jordan this evening.

They were thoroughly impressed by our 0.5-metre telescope, and I must admit it was a relief to briefly return to my Mancunian accent in what is otherwise a predominantly American-accented environment. We began with some outdoor stargazing, with Orion shining as the true jewel of the winter constellations.

Jupiter was our first target with the main telescope using SharpCap, followed by a live-stacked view of the Orion Nebula with ASIStudio - always a guaranteed crowd-pleaser
