About this image

As I reported here I used a polarization sensitive camera to record the corona during the August 12 eclipse. The corona is strongly polarized tangential to the limb. With the camera I was using it is possible to synthesise tangential and radial linear polarization filters for each pixel. This animation shows the tangential and radial polarization images. The corona is considerably brighter and has more contrast in the tangential image compared to the radial one.
