I've been interested in astronomy on and off for 40-odd years, but it has become a real passion in the last 10 years.
Nowadays I mainly practise electronically-assisted astronomy (EAA) using a SX Lodestar X2 mono guide camera and an alt-az mounted 8" f/4 imaging Newtonian with short (15s or so) exposures stacked live at the laptop. I'm mainly interested in the deep sky and have observed many Arps, VVs, Hicksons and Shakhbazian groups as well as ACO galaxy clusters and WBL galaxy groups. Since getting into live LRGB captures at the scope I've come a bit closer to home, looking at PNs and fainter open clusters such as the Berkeley clusters.
My academic background is in computer science and mathematics. I am an active developer of Python software for EAA:
