Spectroscopy Software Training Workshop

The Equipment & Techniques and Variable Star Sections are holding an interactive training workshop on the spectroscopy software BASS Project and ISIS at the Birmingham & Midland Institute.

Attendees are expected to bring their own laptops with BASS Project and ISIS installed. The sessions will combine instructor led demonstrations with attendees trying it out on their laptops.

Doors will open at 9:30 and the day will be split into a morning session from 10am-1pm followed by an afternoon session from 2pm-5pm.

The BASS Project session will be led by John Paraskeva, the author of the BASS software.

The ISIS session will be led by David Boyd.

Food and drink will not be provided but there are nearby cafes where sandwiches may be bought.

The venue is a short walk from Birmingham New Street train station and nearby parking facilities are listed on the BMI website via the Visit Us -> Find Us menu options.

Booking information

The cost is £5 for BAA members, members of affiliated societies and children under 16, and £7 for non-members. Please note this does not include refreshments or lunch but there is a nearby cafe.

Attendees will need to pre-book using one of the following methods, and the session is limited to 20 attendees so it is advisable to book early.
