Coronavirus (COVID-19) – updated 2020 March 17
Message from the BAA President:
With the continuing deterioration of the situation regarding Covid-19 throughout the country it is appropriate for me to provide you with an update of the action that is being taken by the Association.
A decision has been made to cancel or postpone all the Association’s meetings scheduled for March and April. This includes the Ordinary meeting, and the SGM this Wednesday, the Winchester weekend and the Spring Meeting in Nottingham. Moving into May the Venus and Mercury section meeting in York and the VSS meeting have been postponed, probably to a similar time next year, subject to venue availability.
This decision has not been taken lightly but has been deemed necessary taking account of the advice of the Government and Public Health England and reflects the duty of care the Association has to all our Members and also the volunteers who arrange and assist at these meetings.
The Association’s Office staff will be working remotely, away from Burlington House in order to continue our administrative capacity. The Office will be replying to emails but we ask you to please avoid posting mail to our Burlington House Office as this may not be seen for several weeks.
For those Members who have booked and paid to attend one of the above meetings we are now starting a programme of refunding your payments. The refund will be made to the same account that you used to pay and when it has been done you will receive an email by way of confirmation. This is a considerable task and I need to ask Members to have patience because the Office will be exceedingly busy, but hopefully we can complete this by the end of April.
I will keep you advised of the future meetings and other developments as they happen in these extraordinary times.
Take care and stay safe.
