This looping animation depicts a simulated 5-degree-wide, 10×50 binocular view of the close appulse between magnitude -4.1 Venus and magnitude +1.4 Regulus in early October 2020. The planet passes 5¼ arcminutes south of the star at 23:07UT on October 2 (12:07am GMT on October 3). BAA illustration by Ade Ashford.
