Jupiter’s moons in front of their shadows
On 2016 March 7/8, just 11 to 9 hours before opposition, Europa and Io crossed Jupiter’s disk together in front of their respective shadows. This rare and beautiful event was widely observed in the UK and western Europe, even though most observers had poor seeing.
