    Prompted by the Observer’s Forum article by Steve Barrett in the latest edition of the Journal on observing QSO PS1 J161737+595020 at z=4.3, I decided to see if it might be possible to record a spectrum to confirm the redshift. The result, which may be the faintest and most distant spectroscopic observation by an amateur to date can be seen here
