Polish amateur astronomer and eclipse historian, Dr Marek Zawilski, writes:
Dear all,
For about 40 years, I have been involved in collecting and cataloguing historical observations of eclipses and occultations, which I have presented from time to time at various meetings and conferences.
Today, I am pleased to announce that the newer version of the catalogue of historical observations of solar eclipses has been placed on the Internet in a version that may not be perfect but allows for the use of the collected archive. Look into:
http://www.solareclipses.pl/index2.php?Id=preface
1. Select the century.
2. Click on the icon next to the date – a map of the eclipse path will appear with the observation locations and their three-letter abbreviations marked.
3. Click on the icon next to the source file name – the original text and its English translation will appear.
Up to the 18th century, source texts are available, and later only references to literature (there is already too much data to be copied).
Please forward this message to other people who may be interested in the matter.
Any remarks are welcome!
Greetings-
Marek Zawilski
