I don’t know why vista no longer works on your computer BUT;
I used vista at work it was user unfriendly, and consequently withdrawn by Microsoft some years ago.
I suggest Windows 7 as a good alternative.
Remember these are all hybrids of XP, the best Microsoft operating system ever.
