    Hi all,

After DX And was reported as being bright (11.9) by P. B. Withers on the BAA alert group, I decided to do some photometry on this star as it seems a fascinating object. Firstly, I found it was indeed bright (now around 11.65V) and secondly I imaged it for the whole night last night from Spain and got the attached light curve. (289 x 90s exposures)

I haven’t been able to find long-runs like this in the BAA nor the AAVSO databases. Interesting! I will follow it to see how it drops again.

    Cheers
    Ian.

    Hi Ian,

I’ve been looking at your t/s this afternoon, and it does indeed look interesting. Good stuff!

UGSS stars tend to get overlooked for long photometric runs (with all the t/s effort saved for UGSU stars), and this has certainly been the case with DX And over the years. Keep up the monitoring if you can.

    Thanks Gary,

Got it again last night – see attached. I think the peak might have been the previous night as it’s fainter by about a tenth of a mag.

    Will keep at it…

    Ian.

I also did a Generalised Lomb-Scargle period analysis in Peranso (Using my long run on 22nd). It seems there is a periodic strong component of about 0.07 days.
    See attached.

    Cheers
    Ian.
