I was delighted to see on ArXiv today a paper that includes several BAA members as authors which has been accepted by MNRAS:

Yes, it’s a good paper and a fascinating field.
We’ve got part of the Falcon 9 crashing into the Moon tomorrow morning, so if the cloud allows, I’ll be trying to capture that.

Clouded out in Nottingham this morning and Tony Cook has emailed to say he was clouded out in Wales too. I’ve not seen anything yet online of people detecting an impact, but hoping someone has done.

As mentioned in the paper, LIF team lead scientists Detlef Koschny, Elisa Maria Alessi and Tony Cook (BAA Lunar Section Director) are preparing a paper on the LIF Geminids 2025 campaign.
LIF observers also confirmed a small number of impact flashes during the 2026 April Lyrids, so they will be analysed and reported in due course.
Will anyone record a Perseid LIF during the total solar eclipse? Quite a challenge! (See August’s Lunar Section Circular)
