Hi all,
Tony Simcock has written an excellent obituary of Allan Chapman for the Journal of the Scientific Instrument Society. (Thanks to Roger Hutchins for pointing this out)

In addition both the chairman of the Society & the Editor (Prof. Willem Hackman) pay nice tributes to Allan on page 1 of the Bulletin, with an additional picture of him, nicely supplementing Tony’s obituary, and this page is also (separately) freely accessible from the web page the above link takes you to.
I am currently working on Allan Chapman’s obituary for the BAA Journal.
