Another great Winchester Weekend attended by 106 keen astronomers at Sparsholt, thanks to all involved. Among many excellent talks, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell gave the Alfred Curtis Memorial lecture after being reminded by our President of his illustrious career. Lucie Green also gave a talk on Observing Eclipses from Space. The Jupiter section talks chaired by Section Director John Rogers were also well-attended.
Yes an absolutely brilliant weekend. I was exhausted when I got home last night. I’ve come away with lots of ideas of things to do to improve my own observing techniques and new things to have a go at. Also great to speak to people who I only ever encounter online. The BAA at its finest. Thanks for all who organised and ran the show, especially Tony, Ann and Alan, but also the helpers on the BAA stand, registration desk etc. Brilliant.
My first visit to Winchester weekend since 1976 and I must say it was worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Like others I’ve come away with new ideas to try.
Well done to everyone who organised or helped make it such an enjoyable weekend.Indeed, a brilliant weekend. My first for three years since the last two clashed with eclipses. Sparsholt is a lovely location and the food and lectures were great as always. It was great to meet up with many old friends and with new people that I had corresponded with but had not yet met. Many thanks to everyone involved in the organisation. You did a wonderful job.
There was some concern that we would not get through the two kegs of ale that the bar had brought in for the weekend. They really had no need to worry!
