    Will a square white light solar filter on an SCT introduce any abberations or artefacts on the image?

    The square cutout will give very strong diffraction spikes, try it out tonight to see how bad.
    But the Sun has so much going on it might not matter.
    I would go for a round cutout.
    It won’t affect the resolution and it’s not like you need the extra light.
